Somiqo Hub Partners with Amal Labs to Train Teachers in Kilifi | Somo Tech Literacy Centre (STLC)

We are happy to share that Somiqo Hub has partnered with Amal Labs as a Trainer of Teachers. The partnership started on 1 November 2026, and it gives us the chance to take our teacher training work in Kilifi to many more schools.
## Why this partnership matters
Teachers carry the biggest load in any school, and many of them are still waiting for practical support on how to use digital tools and AI in their daily work. At Somiqo Hub, we have heard this from teachers again and again during our visits to schools. They do not want long theory sessions. They want something they can try in class the next day.
Amal Labs is built for exactly this. It is a platform that helps teachers plan lessons that follow the CBC, build Schemes of Work with the help of AI, and personalise learning so that every learner gets the attention they need. For a teacher with large classes and little time, this can save hours of planning each week and leave more room for actual teaching.
## What the Hub will do
Under this partnership, Somiqo Hub will lead and organise hands-on teacher trainings, with at least 50 teachers trained every month. Our work will include leading and structuring each training, organising and supporting the sessions, handling communication with schools and teachers before and after each session, and taking care of other tasks that keep the training programme running smoothly.
Every session is hands-on. Teachers do not just listen. They sit with a device, log in, and build a real lesson plan or Scheme of Work for their own class, with our trainers walking around to help. By the end of the session, each teacher leaves with something they can use immediately.
## Building on the work already done
This partnership grows out of work we have already been doing in Kilifi. Our team has been running trainings in schools, including a recent session at Basi Primary School, and so far we have reached 147 teachers across more than six schools. The response from teachers has been encouraging, and several schools have asked us to come back or to train more of their staff.
Our plan is to keep growing this work through the end of 2026. With the support of Amal Labs, we hope to reach thousands of teachers across Kilifi and Malindi, training groups of teachers on consecutive weekends.
## The role of our volunteers
Somiqo Hub runs on the energy of volunteers, and this programme will be no different. Our volunteers will help with organising sessions, reaching out to schools, setting up the training room and devices, and following up with teachers after each training to check how they are using what they learned. This is also a chance for our volunteers to grow their own skills in training, coordination and community work.
## Why we do this
Our belief at SomoTech Africa is simple. When a teacher is supported, a whole classroom benefits. A teacher who plans well, saves time and understands each learner will teach better, and learners in public schools and in rural areas will feel the difference. We want every teacher in our community to have access to these tools, not only those in big towns.
## Thank you
We thank Amal Labs for trusting us with this work, and we thank the teachers, school heads and volunteers who have walked with us so far. We are looking forward to the months ahead.
